MitoQ Triple Magnesium Complex is designed for anyone managing stress and supporting heart health. Combining clinically studied levels of magnesium glycinate with two other magnesium forms, taurinate and oxide, plus GABA. This unique formula delivers ingredients to reduce cortisol, support a steady heart rhythm, regulate blood pressure, and promote restorative sleep—empowering you to stay calm, balanced, and resilient as you age.
MitoQ Triple Magnesium Complex was formulated to help individuals regulate their stress response, support their heart, encourage better sleep, and maintain balance at the cellular level. Our ingredients were carefully selected for their roles in HPA activation and managing stress-related symptoms of the body and mind.
Unlike other magnesium products, which may largely focus on muscle health and sleep, our formulation is designed to address stress and its impact on cardiovascular health and sleep. GABA works alongside magnesium to calm the central nervous system and break the stress circle that is exacerbated by inadequate levels of magnesium. With ingredients scientifically shown to improve sleep quality, calm brain activity, and promote a healthy cardiovascular response, MitoQ Triple Magnesium Complex is unlike traditional magnesium supplements.
1. Breaking the Magnesium Stress Circle
2. Reducing cortisol to balance the stress response
3. Maintaining healthy heart rhythm and blood pressure
4. Encouraging restful sleep
Stress is a natural and essential part of life. However, in today’s modern world, stress can cause more harm than good when it is not managed well.
For more information on the stress response, we have written a series of articles:

Magnesium is essential for enzyme function and is required for over 300 cellular processes, including:
Magnesium and calm go hand in hand. For mental well-being, magnesium helps regulate neurotransmitters, which play an important role in nervous system regulation. It also helps maintain balanced stress hormones like cortisol, supports sleep, and acts as a co-factor for energy production in our cells.
Unfortunately, many people don’t get enough magnesium due to poor diet, daily stress, and excessive caffeine or alcohol consumption. In fact, between 10-30% of people in developed nations have a magnesium deficiency. Low levels of magnesium can lead to heightened stress, poor sleep, increased irritability, fluctuations in hormones, poor recovery after exercise and more.
Many people turn to magnesium for stress support, as it's known as nature’s relaxant for its ability to calm the nervous system. Here’s how it works:
Regulation of Neurotransmitters: Magnesium influences key neurotransmitters like gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and serotonin, both of which help promote relaxation and emotional stability. By supporting the regulation of neurotransmitters, magnesium supplementation has been shown to improve overall mood and mental health.
Impact on the HPA Axis: The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis controls the body’s response to stress. Magnesium helps regulate this system, reducing excessive cortisol (your stress hormone) production.
Nervous System Support: Magnesium counteracts excitatory neurotransmitters like glutamate, which can overstimulate the brain and cause feelings of anxiousness.
By supporting these functions, magnesium helps create a sense of calm, making it easier to manage daily stress and prevent overstimulation of the nervous system.

Even though magnesium plays a vital role in our stress response, lower levels of magnesium are often an overlooked risk factor in stressed individuals. Inadequate magnesium levels may lead to a decrease in GABA receptor function in brain synapses, leading to increased susceptibility to stress and anxiousness.
The symptoms of stress and low levels of magnesium are very similar. Low magnesium levels can exacerbate the stress response, leading to what researchers now term ‘Magnesium’s Vicious Circle of Stress’.

1. Activation of the stress response releases stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol
2. Cortisol encourages magnesium release from cells and toward the kidneys for excretion and prevents magnesium absorption in the gut. This means the body loses magnesium.
3. Release of the neurotransmitter GABA is inhibited due to a lack of magnesium, preventing its calming, cortisol-lowering effects.
4. Low magnesium intensifies the stress response, repeating the circle.
Our formulation combines three forms of magnesium alongside GABA to replenish magnesium levels and bring balance back to the stress circle.
1. Replenishment of magnesium improves magnesium levels and makes GABA receptors more responsive
2. Combination of oral magnesium and GABA helps increase total levels of GABA in the CNS
3. Stimulation of GABA reduces cortisol release, balancing the stress response and improving magnesium uptake in the cell.
4. Nervous System Support: Magnesium counteracts excitatory neurotransmitters like glutamate, which can overstimulate the brain and increase feelings of anxiousness.
Stress and cardiovascular health are intimately linked. Your heartbeat is controlled by electricity, and the electrical charge is provided by electrolytes like calcium, magnesium, and potassium. When we are stressed, we may experience a racing heart and heart ‘flutters’.
One measure of heart health that is associated with the stress response is heart rate variability (HRV). HRV tells us the difference in time between your heartbeats. Our hearts don’t beat mechanically, and there is natural variation within our heart rhythm. This is controlled automatically by our autonomic nervous system, so its something you don’t have to think about, or notice.
A slower heart rate allows for more variation between heartbeats, because there’s more time in between them. If the stress response is triggered, the increase in heart rate can also cause a decrease in HRV.
Maintaining a high HRV at rest is an indication of a healthy heart and stress response, and supplementing with 500mg magnesium glycinate (as in the same dose as MitoQ Triple Magnesium Complex) has been shown to improve HRV in healthy adults.
Regulating blood pressure is important for maintaining heart health. Supplementing with 500mg of magnesium taurinate was found to provide a modest reduction in blood pressure. Magnesium works on the lining of blood vessels to help them dilate and may be more effective when given alongside other electrolytes like potassium and calcium.

What is heart rate variability?

Stress also disrupts our sleep patterns, interfering with our cellular repair cycles and emotional regulation. Sleep is essential for consolidating memories, regenerating ATP, balancing mood, and muscle repair.
Magnesium is essential for the regulation of melatonin, the hormone responsible for controlling the sleep-wake cycle. Low levels of magnesium can also reduce melatonin levels, and taking a magnesium supplement may promote regular melatonin production.
With its influence on GABA, magnesium has been shown to help quiet brain activity before sleep. Inhibitory neurotransmitters like GABA are essential for calming the brain. 100mg of GABA has been shown to reduce overactive brain wave activity in the brain when doing stressful tasks.
Ensuring adequate, restful sleep is essential during stressful periods. Clinical studies have shown that 100mg of GABA has been shown to help people fall asleep faster.

Our formulation has clinically relevant doses of magnesium glycinate, magnesium taurinate, and GABA.
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system known for its role in promoting relaxation and reducing anxiousness. GABA can be activated by magnesium, and magnesium inadequacies can inhibit GABA release – leaving the brain overstimulated.
